UGM – Still Making a Difference

by Wesley Chapman

So far, 2020 has been a letdown on many levels. 2020 was supposed to be the start of the new age. It’s the date many older sci-fi movies picked as ‘the future.’ There were supposed to be flying cars, robot maids, food replicators, and all the familiar things. Unfortunately, as it turns out, the universe had a different course for us, one that included a global pandemic, an economic shutdown, and a highly contentious election cycle—and it’s only August!

The good news is that despite the fact that AATC had to cancel the bowling tournament, two golf events, and numerous meetings and get-togethers, our members were still able to make a difference in a big way.

In July, AATC participated in its second straight year of Christmas in July at Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County. Our members stepped up and enabled 24 kids to receive $650 in wonderful ‘Christmas’ gifts, not to mention the $350 in supplies off UGM’s immediate needs list along with $270 in gift cards.

I know what you’re thinking…you wish you could have participated in the fun. Well, there’s still an opportunity to make a difference, and it’s right around the corner! Even though our annual UGM Charity Bowling Tournament was canceled this year, we are still doing a SILENT AUCTION! All the proceeds from this auction will go to UGM, so be ready to place your bids!

This year, the auction will be exclusively online beginning August 13th at noon and ending Friday, August 14th at 1 pm. Some auction items include designer handbags, autographed sports memorabilia, several types of spirits, and activities to help enjoy your time at home. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to buy something nice but also help someone else at the same time.

You can visit our online auction site at:

Of course, none of this would be possible without the support from our basket sponsors
