President’s Letter – Keep Smiling!

It’s easy to get down in the dumps these days. All you have to do is read or watch the news. Yikes!

So, let me say PDQ that I’m determined to stay upbeat and positive about what’s ahead of us. It’s actually easier to be up than down. Did you know scientists say it takes fewer muscles in your face to smile than frown? That’s true – look it up!

Did you know AATCs NextGen and Community Service folks are hosting their 4th completely-booked blood drive for the American Red Cross on Sep 10? That’s amazing! What a great way to help people who really have some urgent needs.

Did you know we’ve moved our incredibly successful Business Exchange to Oct 2 online? It’ll be great to put our owner-managers and supplier-partners together again. The Exchange is business speed-dating on steroids.

Did you know AATCs fall Golf Tournament is about to tee-it-up in-person on the grass (that’s not a virtual joke) coming your way on Oct 6 at Texas Star? Wow, it’ll be so good to see you face-to-face or mask to mask, even if it’s at a socially-agreeable distance!

Did you know AATC has hosted more than 1,800 people on Zoom during the past 5-months for an amazing number of valuable learning opportunities? Great job Darcy, Gregory Ann, and our wonderful Education team. And there’s so much more in store for you to learn coming this fall. Check it out at

All the essentials continue. We’re doing what we love to do, but it’s so much more fun to do what we do in the same place at the same time. I really miss my colleagues, and I’m hopeful this horrible pandemic will continue its slow decline. I’m praying for the day when we don’t feel compelled to wear a face covering, no matter how in-fashion they’ve become.

AATC is all about collaboration. We like big hugs and shaking hands and laughing out loud or lamenting about anything that comes to mind. We miss one another. As the saying goes, we’re definitely much better together.
