Shoulders Back, Hearts Open
Following last week’s amazing Lone Star Awards Leadership Celebration at the Fort Worth Convention Center, I’m filled with excitement about the year-to-come. On the heals of so many wonderful predecessors and mentors, I’m ready to serve as your president.
Shoulders back – hearts open! That’s my approach as well as my challenge. Think about it… it’s a power pose. We’re heading down the road together with a combination of strength and compassion as our guide.
We’re truly fortunate to work in an industry that changes people’s lives. Our customers live with us. We provide people with a comfortable place to call home. We see them on their best days and their worst days and everything in-between. We can choose to make a positive difference every day for the people living in our communities.
How can the association help? Simple, get involved. If you’re passionate about education – we are too. Can you see good reasons to advocate on behalf of the industry that pays your bills? That’s great – please join us. Do you want to give back? We do to. Can you see the benefits of networking with colleagues including competitors and our wonderful service providers? That’s what we’re all about. You’ll find what you want, what you need, what inspires you most by plugging into AATC. As my grandpa used to say, “Everyone’s welcome!”
You have a choice, a voice and you can make a difference, but we need to hear you. Volunteer to serving on one our committees; share your voice, fuel your passions, make a different. I’ve often told my crew, “you can manage chaos or discover it’s managing you!”
It was easy to look around the convention center during last week’s banquet and see our future leaders. It’s our responsibility – your responsibility to lead this Association into the future. The next generation of leaders is ready to take the wheel.
Commitment is the key. Anyone who knows me, knows I don’t take that word lightly. As your president, I’m your reflection. My role is to speak for you, to act on your behalf.
I’m looking forward to what we’ll accomplish together; excited for Nicolle and Company– my incoming leadership team to get things going right now!
Nicolle Block has recently taken charge as AATCs new president, our chief elected officer. In her spare time, she works as an Area Vice President for AMLI Residential.
