UGM Bowling Tournament Returns!

by Keith McAndrew, AATC's Community Service Committee Chair

This year’s UGM Charity Bowling Tournament presented by Earthworks is right around the corner! Planning is underway and we are rockin’ and rollin’! Credit is due to the AATC Community Service Committee; our UGM Bowling Title Sponsor, Earthworks; and all of our lane and silent auction basket sponsors. I am thankful to be part of such a large group of servant’s hearts. Each and every person on our committee goes above and beyond in a special way to make this event top notch. We all have the same goal, to raise as much money for Union Gospel Mission as we can.

If you aren’t familiar with our annual UGM Bowling Tournament, here are the “Cliff’s Notes.” Every year, AATC’s multifamily membership gets together to raise over $20,000 to donate to our primary community service partner, Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County, for their special cause of not just feeding the homeless, but also to rehabilitate people and return them into the world as functioning members of society. Not only does UGM want to help as many people as possible on a daily basis, but they also want to make sure their residents can turn around and have productive lives. As the old adage goes, “Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” All net proceeds go to the Mission for them to use as they see fit within their mission statement.

Even though all lanes are full, we invite all members to show up and watch the fun and participate in the silent auction for free. You can purchase food and drinks at the bowling alley restaurant. We also have some give-a-ways for those in attendance. You can purchase Gospel Goodies Tickets – 1 for $10 or 3 for $20- which will enter you for a chance to win one of our many fabulous goodies, including our legendary booze wagon. Speaking of which, if you are able, please bring an unopened bottle of spirits to add to the booze wagon. There is even an incentive for those who donate to the booze wagon prior to the tournament- email awilliams@aatcnet.org for the details. We hope these efforts will help us raise even more money!

Besides two ‘traditional’-style bowling tournaments—we use traditional very loosely here because our group is anything but that—we have our incredible silent auction. Expect to see Cowboys tickets, Mavs tickets, designer purses and jewelry, spirits, and much more. We still have silent auction basket sponsorships available and need YOUR help! CLICK HERE to sponsor a basket today.

One more thing! Each year we collect an item needed by The Mission. This year, we are collecting baby wipes. Please bring baby wipes with you to the event, or bring some extra cash to the event and we will do the shopping for you. You can also contribute online. We hope to make things as easy on our members as possible.

Hope to see you on March 23!
