Business Exchange Follow Up

The 2019 AATC-AAGD Business Exchange presented by Maintenance Supply HQ was a huge success!

This year, 289 executives from 64 DFW multi-housing companies and 369 suppliers from 195 product/service companies conducted more than 4,300 one-on-one meetings. That’s two hours of non-stop buyer-seller interaction.

The best part, we raised a record $158,000 for the National Apartment Association Political Action Committee (NAA PAC). Along with last year’s Business Exchange, we raised more than $300,000 in the two-year election cycle. The Business Exchange is by far the largest single fundraiser for the NAA PAC.

AAGD and AATC, along with NAA, will use these funds to help multi-housing friendly candidates for congressional office. We start with DFW area congressional candidates. In addition to supporting our Tarrant County members of congress (Kay Granger, Marc Veasey, Roger Williams, and Ron Wright), our event is so successful that we can use funds from the Business Exchange to help congressional candidates outside of DFW. AATC and AAGD control 25% of these funds and NAA controls the rest. Last year, AATC used $42,500 of the money we control to help candidates in Wyoming, New York, Michigan, California, and other areas around the country—areas that do not have a strong industry presence. The impact of the Business Exchange is nationwide!

While we’re patting ourselves on the back, it is helpful to remember where we began. The first Business Exchange, 18-years ago, had 120 attendees and raised $3,400. From that humble beginning, the Business Exchange has raised more than $1,100,000 for the NAA PAC!

Big thank you to the Business Exchange Committee members Alexis Carrerio, Dawn Waye, Jinger Lane, Jodi Spurrell, Johnny Kammerer, Keith McAndrew, Lori Bush, Phil Bolton, Rick Tuzinski, and Zoe Freeman for all your hard work. Special thanks to Maintenance Supply HQ for being our title sponsor; Pappas Roofing for being our lunch sponsor; and Adamsmark Construction for being our photo booth sponsor. Thank you to all our time-change sponsors.

Big shout out to Jim Wilson and Sheryl Eastman with NAA staff. Most importantly, thank you to all the owner/operator and supplier attendee. You make the Business Exchange truly is the premiere multi-housing networking event in the nation.
