Bowling for UGM

by Becca Brown, BG Multifamily, AATCs Community Services Chair

Clearly, we are excited about our upcoming UGM Bowling Tournament. We just sold our last bowling lane, we are filling up our auction baskets and all the necessary accoutrements have been ordered. Are you ready? We are!

This year’s UGM Charity Bowling Tournament presented by Century A/C Supply is destined to be our best yet! A lot of the credit for that goes to my AATC Community Services Committee.

Each and every person on our committee goes above and beyond in a special way to make this event top notch. We all have the same goal, to raise as much money for Union Gospel Mission as we can.

If you aren’t familiar with our annual philanthropic enterprise then let us prepare you. Every year, AATC’s multifamily membership gets together to raise over $20,000 to donate to UGM for their special cause of not just feeding the homeless, but also to rehabilitate people. Not only does UGM want to help as many people as possible on a daily basis, they want to make sure they can turn around and have productive lives. As the old adage goes, “Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” All net proceeds go to the Mission for them to use as they see fit within their mission statement.

Even though all lanes are full, we reckon there are likely some teams in need of bowlers. For a complete list of companies with lanes, visit our website at www.aatcnet.org and maybe you can pull a few strings. Beyond that, we invite all members to show up and watch the fun and participate in the silent auction. We also have some give-a-ways for those in attendance. This year’s Gospel Goodies include a Dak Prescott signed football and our legendary booze wagon. Speaking of which, if you are able, please bring an unopened bottle of spirits to add to the booze wagon. This will help us raise even more money!

Besides two ‘professional’-style bowling tournaments—we use professional very loosely here—we have our incredible silent auction. We still have plenty of options for you to donate a silent auction basket that we can include. Just give us a call and we’ll definitely get you set up.

Here is a list of the auction baskets contributed so far:

  • Henri Bendel Purse, Cosmetic Bags, and Candle
  • Kate Spade Purse
  • Spirits of Texas
  • “A Barren of Mules”
  • Tiffany’s SPLASH necklace
  • Sunday Funday
  • Taylor Swift Tickets
  • Cowboys Experience
  • Lotto Tickets Treasure Chest
  • Ring Doorbell Pro Series
  • Home Depot Handy Essentials
  • Family Game Night
  • Virtual Reality Package

Sounds wonderful, right? Yeah, I can’t wait either. So come join us on Feb 10, beginning at noon for the best fundraiser this side of Highway 360. Registration opens at 11am and please, when you come, bring any size or type of diapers you’d like so we can, in turn, donate them to UGM. If you don’t want to lug around diapers, then you can also donate cash here or bring it to the event.

Hope to see you on Feb 10!
