Trust your 2019 is off to a great start! As we move into 2019, I encourage all AATC independent rental owner (IRO) members to take full advantage of all the services, programs, and benefits that AATC has to offer. Start by attending the 2019 AATC IRO lunches.
I’m honored to be the 2018-2019 AATC IRO Chair and I’m excited about our 2019 programs:
- February 6th – Asset Protection
- April 4 – Contingency Planning – Part 2
- June 6 – Technology
- August 1 – Paint & Resurfacing
We kick-off 2019 with a discussion on risk-mitigation. Join your fellow owner/operators on Wednesday, February 6th, beginning at 12:00 noon at Shady Oak BBQ (6364 Sandshell Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76137) for a discussion on ways to protect your assets.
From natural disasters to disastrous tenants, IRO’s face multiple risks. Our February 6th meeting will feature:
- AATC member attorney Jim Floyd;
- Insurance broker Jon Brasher; and
- Computer security expert Christina Grady
Christina, Jim, and Jon will help you mitigate the risk involved in owning and operating income property. Jim will discuss ways to set-up ownership entities that reduce your personal liability. Finding affordable property and casualty insurance is extremely difficult. Jon will offer insights and suggestions on obtaining insurance coverage. Also, more and more of our business involves technology and nothing can ruin your day quicker than being hacked! Christina will help us navigate the world of cybersecurity.
We have a new location for our 2019 meetings: Shady Oak BBQ. It’s a Dutch Treat lunch – so order off the menu and enjoy an outstanding discussion.
We also have a new sponsor: Sherwin Williams! If you have interior or exterior painting needs, be sure to contact James Giddens with Sherwin Williams at (972) 238-7582 or by email at email@example.com.
We’ll continue our December round-table discussion on Contingency Planning in April. Also, consider participating in the February 13th TAA Day at the Capitol in Austin. It’s a great opportunity to visit with your state representatives and let them know how the government is impacting your business. Two of our own AATC IRO members serve in the Texas House of Representatives: Stephanie Klick and Craig Goldman. To register, go to www.taa.org
